The verse was quoted by Lord Caitanya long before Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu was composed, and in this regard Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura points out that all these verses were current at the time and were quoted by devotees long before Bhakti-rasāmṛta-sindhu was composed.
