māninī nirutsāhe chāḍe vibhūṣaṇa
bhūme vasi’ nakhe lekhe, malina-vadana


SYNONYMS

māninī — proud, egoistic woman; nirutsāhe — because of disappointment; chāḍe — gives up; vibhūṣaṇaall kinds of ornaments; bhūme vasi’ — sitting on the ground; nakhe — with the nails; lekhe — marks lines; malina-vadana — with a morose face.


TRANSLATION

“When a woman is neglected and disappointed, out of egoistic pride she gives up her ornaments and morosely sits down on the ground, marking lines on it with her nails.
