eta śuni’ mahāprabhura citta dravilā
aśru-kampa-svarabhaṅge kahite lāgilā


SYNONYMS

eta śuni’ — hearing this; mahāprabhura — of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu; cittaheart; dravilā — became softened; aśru — tears; kampa — trembling; svara-bhaṅge — with faltering of the voice; kahite — to speak; lāgilā — began.


TRANSLATION

When Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu heard Vāsudeva Datta’s statement, His heart became very soft. Tears flowed from His eyes, and He began to tremble. In a faltering voice He spoke as follows.
