Dear Jadurani devi,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. Regarding your most recent questions in your letter dated Dec. 22. 1974, some of them I have already answered, the others I am answering in this letter. I think in the future, it would be best if you could go over the que stions with Bharadraja carefully with an attempt to minimize the questions that have to go before Srila Prabhupada. It is getting harder and harder to ask these questions to him. Why don’t you make a nice sketch of what you want to do and simply send it for approval. If something is wrong Prabhupada will point it out and then when the actual painting is done you can do it correctly. That way we won’t have to tax Prabhupada with so many numerous questions.
Practically (whenever it is practical) a sannyasi is respected with flower garland.
Raised seat means a chauki or a little small table about. 6 inches off the ground made out of wood or marble.
Prabhupada wants anyone who is interested to be trained up for painting. Use your discretion as to whether he is capable of being trained up. When you send the final photograph of the painting completed, then Prabhupada will decide if it is good enough quality for the books.
When Madhavendra Puri was offering to Gopal, both the prasadam and the arati paraphenalia were placed on two rocks—not benches.
The best thing is to have new pictures in all the books rather than having repeats from old books in the new books. And the covers, if possible, should always be the same for each respective book regardless of what language it may be printed in.
Again, try to refer more to Bharadraja, then if there is still question, you can write. (Prabhupada wants this—try to do it.) I hope this meets you in good health.
Your servant,
Paramahamsa Svami
