770626 - Letter to Giriraja from Tamal Krsna

Vrndavana,

June 26, 1977

From: Tamal Krishna

Bombay

My dear Giriraja Prabhu,

Please accept my humble obeisances.

I have just received a letter from Dr. K. T. Sarma dated June 19th, 1977. Dr. Sarma mentioned that we had discussed that against the services which he rendered towards our devotees for medical treatment, we would make some arrangement to repay him by some barter system. At that time I had discussed the possibility of providing some living facilities for his family against his treatments towards our devotees. In any case I certainly agreed to pay for the treatments he gave me for my boil, and in fact I came to pay him on the day before leaving but he was not available. Now Dr. Sarma feels that he wants something in return, and says that his services to the devotees amount to a few thousand rupees. In return for these services, he is asking a full set of Srimad-Bhagavatam and Caitanya-caritamrta and a Bhagavad-gita. Srila Prabhupada says that if in fact he has rendered services to such an extent as he says, then he should be repaid by giving him our books. I cannot say how much services he has done, but you are in a position to do so, so you should make a decision on this immediately and inform him of it.

Hoping this meets you well.

Your servant,

Tamal Krishna Gosvami
