770630 - Letter to Hansadutta from Tamal Krsna
Vrndavana,
June 30, 1977
From: Tamal Krishna
Colombo, Sri Lanka
My dear Hansadutta Maharaj,
Please accept my humble obeisances at your feet. Srila Prabhupada has received your wonderful report dated June 23rd, 1977 and asked me to reply you. His Divine Grace was very very encouraged by your letter. He said, “This news is ambrosial. You are all Mohini-murt4i, distributing ambrosia. Now you have got the right place to execute your capacity. Do it nicely and Krishna will bless you. You have sacrificed very nicely. You have no attachment for beautiful wife, so Krishna will give you all blessings. Now your first business is to print books. Whatever money you have print books. Then attempt building a temple. You can print Nectar of Devotion, then Teachings of Lord Caitanya, then Srimad-Bhagavatam, then Caitanya-caritamrta, like that.”
“This is the first attempt of the sankirtana movement in Ceylon. Hansadutta gets good credit. The Gaudiya Math never went there. When I went to America I dropped there, and now I have brought Hansadutta from America. Colombo is a very nice city, all around there is sea. There are enough plantains. From: your report I can understand how nice a place it is.”
“During the Mayapur festival, bring Ceylonese devotees. We have enough room there. Krishna is making arrangements that people will come here from the whole world. Not that our attempt is extravagant there at Mayapur. I think in Vrndavana we will have to construct many other houses also. Try to recruit young brahmacaris for our Gurukula in Vrndavana. You can approach respectable gentlemen that they should send their small children here to become learned and devotees.” “We have received report from Yugoslavia from Ghanasyama Prabhu. He has sold so many Standing Orders. Even the Communists are saying: This is the only hope for all mankind, the teachings are universal.”
Prabhupada concluded by saying, “I wish I could go there (to Ceylon). I will go there!” Your letter was a great source of inspiration to Srila Prabhupada. Kindly send more such encouraging reports. He also very much relished hearing the letter from the Mayor and seeing all of the photographs. Param vijayate sri krsna sankirtanam. Hoping this meets you well.
