Dear Mrs. Perlmutter,

Please accept my greetings. Hare Krishna. I beg to thank you for your letter dated Sept. 6, 1977 with the enclosed news clipping from the New York Times.

Yes, we were expecting to take Srila Prabhupada to America, but as Krishna desired Srila Prabhupada returned to India after a two week visit to London. Here His Divine Grace is lying ill, but waiting for the opening of the beautiful International Temple and Guesthouse at Hare Krishna Land, Juhu, Bombay. Sometime in the future I hope that you will the opportunity to visit India and see all these tremendous ISKCON projects which Srila Prabhupada has developed here. There are very breath-taking and inspiring and I am sure you will be very happy to see them. I think in the future you and your good husband should plan a trip here. It would be a most enlightening experience. You will be glad to know that the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust Exhibition at the Moscow Fair was a grand success. Many of the biggest libraries in Russia ordered standing orders of all of Srila Prabhupada’s books. Among those which took our books were: The Moscow University, The Lenin Library, The Library for Foreign Literature, The Moscow Historical Library, and the Moscow Museum for Oriental Arts. Thousands of people mobbed our exhibit of books, and they were so eager to get the books that many of them were even stolen. So this is real proof that Krishna consciousness is universal. It cuts through all barriers and designations - religion, nationality, and even philosophy. Krishna consciousness is the true eternal nature of all living entities. It is not something artificial which might be accepted or rejected. It is the natural consciousness of the pure spirit soul, and as such we always remain enthusiastic to explain Krishna consciousness to all people whom we meet, knowing fully well that they will actually be happy if they take to Krishna consciousness.

I hope this will meet you in enthusiastic preaching mood to try to explain to all of the parents of our devotees that they should be happy to have their sons and daughters as Hare Krishna devotees. Please offer my greetings to your husband.
